Dimitrije Ruvarac

Dimitrije "Mita" Ruvarac ((セルビア語:Димитрије Руварац); Stari Banovci, Austria Hungary October 25, 1842 — Sremski Karlovci, Kingdom of Yugoslavia December 16, 1931) was Serbian historian, Orthodox priest, politician and publisher. He is known for being one of the most active publishers of his time.
== Ruvarac family ==
Ruvarac family immigrated to Syrmia in Austria-Hungary, today in Serbia, from the region between Bihać and Cazin, nowadays Bosnia and Herzegovina, then Ottoman Empire. The Serbian family Ruvarac is exceptional, indeed. Four sons from one generation became important for Serbian culture, science and political life. Dimitrije's brother, Ilarion Ruvarac (1832-1905), was a well-known historian who argued that the historian's ultimate goal must be the postulation of ''historical truth''. He consequently challenged the Romantic glorification of a distant Medieval past and insisted upon an objective knowledge and the use of proper historical sources. Lazar Ruvarac, a graduate from the University of Vienna became a prominent high official in the Serbian government. Kosta Ruvarac (1837-1864), a writer and a literary critic who contributed much to the Serbian Theatre, died suddenly of tuberculosis while still a student at the University of Budapest.
Dimitrije and Ilarion Ruvarac attempted to rehabilitate the Metropolitan of Karlovci, Jovan Georgijević, who entered into the Serbian history of culture for his notoriousness, mostly thanks to the negative opinion of him left by Jovan Rajić. German historian Leopold von Ranke was among the scholars who influenced both Ilarion and Dimitrije Ruvarac, the most.
